Notes on lodging:

First, please understand that there is *not* a designated 'conference hotel' or any associated reserved block of hotel rooms for this event. Please read further for additional information.

The World Food Programme office is located at Via Cesare Giulia Viola 68. There is a nearby Holiday Inn that is a couple minutes' walk from the front gate. There is a bar there, albeit not fancy, and a restaurant. If people want to have fun, they may decide they would rather will stay in the city.

From the city, people can take the train and bus/tram/metro to the train if necessary. The cost is 1.50€ each way for any/all forms of transportation. My suggestions would be to find places in Trastevere, Monteverde Vecchio, Ostinese, Testaccio as they are all easy commutes to the office. The train can be boarded from Ostinese (4 stops from office) or Trastevere (3 stops from the office) for a total of about 16 and 13 minutes respectively. Getting to those stations is easy from the locations I suggested. But again, the Holiday Inn is close to the office, functional, and at least the rooms are renovated. Monti or other DOWNTOWN-downtown areas are lovely also, but somewhat more complicated to get to the office. Note that larger hotels are not all that common in the city, mostly because there isn't space for big hotels in such an old city. There are TONS of guesthouses, smaller hotels, AirBNB, etc. (Myself, I have found a nice property for my stay in the Trastevere area, and will be riding the train back-and-forth each day to the event. -ferg ) Staying at the Holiday Inn close to the meeting event will likely mean a 25-30 € taxi after a night out to get back, without great public transportation options.

People will probably want to hang out in either Trastevere and/or Monti in the evenings, but most likely Trastevere. Testaccio is great too, but a little "sleepier" than very lively Trastevere.

Just a few things to think about... book your own lodging in accordance with your own needs, desire, and/or budgets.

More information will be posted as it becomes available.
